I would like to know whether it is possible to use a Unix machine as a ISDN dial-up server to establish an automatic session from a remote site. The concrete version of Unix it is not still decided but it will probably be Solaris or HP-Unix but not Linux.
I have read something about mgetty. Is it a good for my needs ? Can it establish automatic sessions?

Can somebody give me a suggestion?

Thanks,

Ricky.

Its probably me, but I have some dumb questions:

1) Do intend the UNIX server to respond to an incoming
ISDN call? Or will the server Dial-Out on some
event which demands connectivity?

2) If you are responding to an incoming call, what
session would you like to get when the UNIX server
answers, telnet?

3) If you are dialing out, what will you be dialling?
It could be an ISP, Fax, Telex, Pager system.

Just a little more detail please.

A General Note on 'mgetty':

Sun have released a patch to mgetty to solve a potential vulnerability which could cause maliscious attackers to take control of a system.

If you are considering using this mechanism, please be sure you have updated your system.

More details,

The server should respond to the incoming call and when the server answers I would like to get the console ( I don't know whether it is possible) as I ran a x-Win session from a Windows.

Do you need more information?

Thanks,
