Universe design to allow use of SQL Server "with(nolock)"

Hi,

We are looking at making a basic BO universe to test it's performance and usefulness against our currect solution (SQL Server stored procedures).

We are keeping the SQL Server - and currently the SPs references tables and includes the "with(nolock)" hint. Is there a way to force queries executed from a universe to appeand this hint to all the tables?

Try a Business Objects forum, this is for Crystal Reports.

I avoid Universes as with all types of proprietary layers.

If you can create Views and Stored Procedures, you're creating data sources available to any tool, not the case with Universes (other tools must go through an API).

There are some compelling aspects to the security one can achieve through Universes, otherwise I'd try to avoid them.

I should also have mentioned that a nolock isn't the only factor, a StoredProcedure has a precompiled execution plan, whihc makes it run faster (or should if stats and indexes are tuned).

Nae worries, nothing wrong with posting here as well, you just might find more approrpiate action in the BO forum.

You bring up a good point though,the forums should be evaluted again as the products have changed and we should respect the merging of products.

Your product is BO Entereprise, this forum states Crystal Enterprise, which no longer exists.

BOE is stil quite different from CrystalReports Server (what one might consider the old Crystal Enterprise)

Sort of...

CR server is more like the RAS component of CE10 ( and to some extent BOE XI) with some added capabilities..

The Business Objects site still seems to use both Crystal Enterprise and Business Objects somewhat the same, depending on the document. ( The BOE/CR .NET assemplies, for instance, still have both BusinessObjects and Crystal.Enterprise members)

BOE XI can be more than Crystal Enterprise if all the Business Intelligence components are added ( the core Business Objects products before acquiring Crystal)
