In my hands I have a Dell notebook and seems that when I plug in a flash drive or USB device (floppy/CD) an error message would come up saying "USB Device is write protected disconnect the device" so I got past that part and now able to see the info on the flash drive but it still will not allow me to copy any files to the drive or burn a CD\DVD.

I think that is may be some sort of security setting or a group domain restriction If anyone knows a program or a path (way) to get rid of this that would be much appreciated thanks ahead.

1. I am assuming you are talking about XP and that this DELL is your own property (not one from a company)...

2. START >> RUN >> gpedit.msc >> RETURN . this should open up the group policy editor (you need to have Admin rights)...

under Computer Configuration >> Windows Settings >> Security Properties >> Local Permissions >> Security Settings, there should be a sub key (in the right side window) that defines the access to CD ROM and other Devices...

Now if you do not have admin rights then you will not be able to change the settings...
