Is there any way to create a UNION query in the universe?

For example I would like Object X to contain the values from tableA.column1 and tableB.column1.

I had thought that a UNION query would help, but this doesn't seem possible.

I know that it can be done in the report writer, but I would like to shield users from this.

You certainly can create a view in the database which is a union, (or better yet, if you use Oracle, a union all) and use the view as a table in BO I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Actually - union all is Probably the choice if you create e view an access it as a "shielded" user though BO-reports.

BUT

This has nothing to do with Oracle specifically.

A _union_ gives all the _distinct_ values from the two tables

A _union_all_ gives all values from the two tables.

Since the first has to eliminate all dublicates it is MUCH slower than the second. But then again - you might WANT distinct values - then there is no choice but to "pay" and wait for the database to return what you ask for.

... OK ???
