How do you go about uninstalling programs from a different folder than where you orignally installed them? For example All our workstations have a run from server installation of Microsoft Office. Monday we got a new server and even though the folders from the old server have been moved over to the new server we cannot access the Office programs which really slows things down when trying to access Start, All Programs. Anyway, we have a new version of Office that we are going to install so I don't really care that they can't access the old one, but I need to uninstall the old version and it won't complete successfully cause it knows that's not the folder that it was originally set up from.

Thanks.

I'd imagine the original install location has to exist (and be on the network for a client/server type of setup) in order to uninstall. You may need to put the old server back on the network just long enough to uninstall the office suite.

Leenie,
i'd check the registry w/regedit. search for the original path of the install. once found change it to the new path one one machine(and one machine only) to test. if all goes well then you just have to change it on the others.

Do you know which HKEY and where in it I would find the original install info for Office?

leenie,
not off the top of my head. but if you open regedit you can do a search - (edit find) for your original location - say \\youroriginalinstallserver\ms office\install. you can then go through and correct to the new server. i would correct all references that match your old server path then uninstall.
