I was running an old version of InoculateIT with Arcserve 2000 on a server, when I uninstalled the InoculateIT, it removed the Cheyenne Alert Notification Server service so now my alerts don't work. Does anyone know the proper procedure to reinstall the Alert service? The server is remote, so I pcAnywhere'd into the server and tried to use Add/remove programs to modify installed components to install just the Alert, but it asks for an .msi, so I browsed to the shared CD-ROM drive on my local computer and located the .msi but it won't take it. Any ideas?

Please...does anyone have any thoughts on this? TIA

Run the setup from of ARcserve from the Cd...
This will give you 3 options

1. modify
2. repair
3. remove

Choose repair and continue..

Hope this helps

Here's the thing. If you are running Etrust InoculateIT which comes with alert build 599 version 6, and you have ARCserve alert build 232 version 4, you are likely to have problems. So I suggest that while installing Etrust InoculateIT, choose custom and when you have the option of choosing the alert directory to install the alert part of it, choose the same directory as that of the latter....

Hope this helps....... Cheers!
