I am going to try to best explain my situation...

I uninstalled a program, that didn't completely uninstall. I tried to manually get rid of what was left. This program has a service, and that is basically what is left on the server. I tried re-installing the new version of the software, and it is telling me that there is a version already existing on the server and to uninstall it using the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. When I go to do that, the progam isn't available to uninstall. I have added an uninstaller program, hoping that it would disgard whatever fragments of the program are still on the server, but that did not help. Any ideas about what I could do?

I dont really know, I wouldnt do this to a production server, but if it was a workstation I wouldnt hesitate in digging into the registry and taking out everything under the "Software\*PROGRAM*" part of the registry then try it again.

Call their tech support, maybe like Symantec they have a program that will automatically do a manual uninstall of it.

This is what I would do,

First, I would make sure that if there are any services still left in the services section that they are set to manual (or disabled) and be in the stopped state.

Then, remove services manually:

Or, if this doesn't work I would find the services in the following registry location and delete them:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Then I would rename the application folder in the program files directory (as something else) if it is there - e.g. c:\program Files\<application>.old

Lastly, I use the following last to clean-up the registry. I use this app all the time:

Good luck
