i would say that you make sure you can get all the drivers that are needed for it to work with windows 2000 in advance, then format the hard drive and do a clean install.
by insuring you have the drivers in advance it will save time and trouble later
1. Make a backup of your drivers. Copy the backup to removable media.
2. Change the BIOS setting for the boot order of devices so that the CD drive is listed first. For some notebooks this is determined not by the BIOS but by hitting F12 at system start.
3. Boot from the Win2k CD. You want to do a clean install, including reformatting and partitioning the hard drive.
