Uninstall win 98 for win 2000: HELP 1

I upgraded from windows 98 to windows 2000, but when I did this windows 98 was still installed, and I have to select which OS I want at startup. Anyway, later on I had some troubles with win 98 and I want to know how to uninstall win98 but keep win2000, and there is no option under the Add/Remove folder.

How do I do this?

did u install 2000 in same partition as 98? If you did, just remove the Windows folder (save any user data you may want to from there first) & edit the boot.ini file (in root of C: - hidden, readonly, system folder) to remove the Win98 boot menu entry (something like C:\="Microsoft Windows&quot. This is presuming originally win98 installed in C:\windows and win2k in C:\winnt.
If they're in separate partitions, you can remove everything in win98 partition except system files in root of C: drive. Again edit boot.ini to remove windows 98 entry. You'll still have 2 partitions - if you want to do something about this, its really a backup, & reinstall win2k into one partition scenario.

hey wolluf, thanks for you're advise. I have a windows folder and a winnt folder. Do I just delete the windows folder? Can I just delete this folder and then reinstall win2k.

If they're both on same drive, just delete the windows folder - don't need to reinstall 2k (unless you want/need to of course) & remove the entry in boot.ini.

Thankyou wolluf, you're tips were VERY helpfull and I was able to understand them and now I have succesfully uninstalled windows 98 and windows 2000 remains.
