Just received a toshiba laptop preinstalled with XP pro SP2. Does not come with an XP disk. Only a recovery disk. I have no $ntservicepackuninstall$ folder to run the spuninst. (yes i have the "show hidden files and folders" checked). I need to uninstall SP2 in order to run Autocad mechanical 2005.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Kevin

There is no way to do an uninstall with a slipstream installation of XP.

Why do you need to uninstall sp2..I loaded Autocad 2005 on 11 cad machines with sp2..Just make sure the firewall is disabled first along with any other monitoring softwarte you may have running

You could try and do a system repair from your disc.

try this:
This is the best way to remove sp2 if the "run command" cd $ntservicepackuninstall BLA BLA BLA... if you have already tried this manual uninstall//// this is what your last option is: Boot from cd DO NOt Hit(R) hit enter in order to do a repair install. Your next option would be to hit r (repair) . the trick is some people hit r first....do not!!!!!
1- enter

2- r

When I did this, I just remembered, that I had to do some registry editing, lots of fun.

Good luck

accessuserva,

I made sure the firewall was off and virus was disabled and it still didn't work. The autocad install is a network packaged install using a license manager server. Were your installs local or network?

Thanks

Applied microsoft hotfix 885898 and still nothing.

Format and install Windows 2000. Then yell at Toshiba for pre-installing that highly flawed service pack.

Fed up. Did as langleymass said and yes I did call toshiba!!

Yeah, that's it stick with Dells...just don't ever want to expand any of the hardware unless you're willing to pay through the nose.
