Old, old Dell Latitude 450MC laptop has remnants of Netscape program and 386 enhanced. On boot up Get messages that read...

Need to run setup program again
c:\netscape\system\vntstimd.exe.

Hitting enter then brings up the next message:
Need to run setup
c:\netscape\system\vtcprac.386 I Hit enter:

Need to run setup
c:\netscape\system\pdwcomm.386 I Hit enter:

Need to run setup
c:\netscape\system\dial.386 I hit enter and computer
proceeds to finish booting and works fine.

Would like to uninstall but have no netscapesystem or setup files on computer to allow it. Where do I find the remnants that are giving these messages...nothing in autoexec.bat or config.sys. Any ideas where to look.

Hi Andy,

Your post is old so I don't know if this will help. You last looked in this forum in Sept of 2003. Anyway, I had the same problem as yours. Follow these directions at annoyances.org because they work. Updating your system.ini file will do the trick....

I hope this helps, :)
