Bit stumped.
Im running a Windows 2003 Server, with a virtual machine VMWare) also running Windows 2003 Server.
I am trying to install some software that requires .NET Framework 1.1 SP1.
Trying to install the software says that it needs this framework. On the CD is a "Install .NET Framework 1.1", and a "Install Service Pack 1 for .NET Framework 1.1"
Running the upgrade (as Windows 2003 has built in 1.1), gives me an error saying that no suitable package could be found for the upgrade. Running the Install Framework, tells me that it can't install it cause it already exists.
I have tried the steps, validated by Microsoft to manually install the framework, however, the folders that it needs to delete say that they are currently in use. However, there is nothing at all running, not even any non windows services or processes that could be using them. The only thing that I could think of, if the VM was actually accessing them for some reason, which it shouldn't do, becasue the VM environment is totally sterile, and if it needed to use .NET, I would use the hosting computer's Framework.
I followed the steps here :
in regard to manually uninstalling and reinstalling. However, there are alot of inconsistances that didn't match the setup of a Win2k3 installation. There is no installer package labeled for .NET, there is no URTTemp folder in system32.
I did try and do everything I could, but as I said, I couldn't find, or delete most of the files.
Anybody had any ideas? If I reinstall 2k3, is there an option NOT to install .NET?
