uninstall Linux partition

Hi

I uninstalled Caldera 2.4 by clicking on the uninstall Linux partition as Caldera is shipped with a version of partition magic. The partition was removed, but everytime I boot up Windows does not start, instead it goes to the grub prompt. I have no idea what to do to get to windows. Please if anyone can help...

I should mention I installed Linux as a dual os with Windows 98

win98... use a boot disk to get into dos and type:
fdisk /mbr

that will kill grub/lilo

you might also want to verify that the C partition is the active partition just type fdisk at the prompt and read the menu items. there will be one to set active partition. Just follow the instructions after that...

Thanks for the help. However I typed fdisk and it says there is no fixed disk. I tried fdisk /mbr but grub still loads on boot-up

I type fdisk /mbr and it says there is no fixed disks present, but I can type DIR and it shows all the directories. Can I load windows from here?

Well i installed Mandrake linux 8.2 on my d drive. i created a partion in dos, the first was for me and the second was for my brothers games, well any way, i put 7 gigs into the drive and when i go to my computer and see the drive it shows that it only contains 4 gigs. this was the drive that i installed mandrake, i backed up the files and i formated the drive to see if that would delete linux but it didnt, i also when through fdisk to delete the partion and reset it, but even when i tried that fdisk didnt let me, also in fdisk it still shows that the drive holds the 7 gigs. so how should i do it???!?!?!

one way of doing, (probably not the easiest, but the quickest one i know) install a MINIMAL linux distro on the same partitions as the ones you want to destroy. when you get ot partition, format them as 'fat' (so fdisk can use them properly) and put grub on a partition (instead of the mbr).

then book disk->fdisk->wipe all partitions.

that is what i had to do after my first mishap with redhat. if you find my advice useful, please rate me.
