I'm trying to install Panda and it will not install if it finds others installed. I uninstalled a year ago. I went to website and AVG reccomended to reinstall and unistall. I did and still no luck. Should I search the registry and delete?

Thanks

Have you tried this (AVG Free Forums) using Safe Mode?

Can you provide a little more information? ie Which OS are you using, and which AVG version is Panda detecting?

thanks,

using windows 98. Panda does not tell you what version or where it is detecting anyhting. I also checked in control panel and searched for anyhting thing close to avg and did not find anything.

Thanks again

Thanks for the further info.

Apologies if you've seen these already, but I've found some similar problems (and resolutions) on other forums here and here.

Was it the Free version, a trial or a licensed copy of AVG?
The best option maybe to try contacting AVG Technical Support if it wasn't the free version as one of the above posts does mention a known issue of this type.

You can try searching your harddrive for avg/grisoft related files and folders - particularly in the program files and shared files locations.
Then (backup the registry first) search the registry for avg and grisoft related lines and delete those.

This is the general approach necessary to remove old McAfee and Norton versions sometimes. No promises it would work, but it is what I would try if I were faced with that situation. I have used that approach with McAfee, Norton, HP, and Adobe to remove old programs causing conflicts.
