hello all

i have one issue ,

im using the unified messaging ,im normally sending and receiving using outlook ,
all the faxes im sending through the unified messaging
were direct faxes (using dedicated line),
i don't know if i can send to a fax machine connected to extension (using ATA)????????????????

if yes ,, what is the dialing plan for that procedure ..

thanks alot ...

- That all depends... Outlook, does it dial the 9 to get a line out, or is it set up for direct line access out of system?

If Outlook is set to dial 9 for line out, then yes, you can call an internal number on the system to send a fax or to transfer a call to fax.

Program Outlook to not dial the 9 and just type in the extension number.

yes it is using 9 to dial out ,,

but where should i type in the extension number ?

after typing the main number ? without any spaces or semi colon or slash ??

for example : i want to send any word document , i select

file ? print ? nortel fax ? (asking for a fax number to enter ) what should i enter in this area ???

thanks...

I was reading over your original question...
So you are using UM, you can send and receive faxes that have their own lines.

You want to send a fax using UM, that does not have a DID on your system.
- Is the call being answered by an AA or a live person then?
- Are you trying to call internally?
- Or are you calling a company with a Norstar, fax machine with an ATA, which you want to send a fax to receive?

If I read your last statement correctly,

file ? print ? nortel fax ? (asking for a fax number to enter ) what should i enter in this area ???

The number is the internal extension of the ATA (Fax machine), this will send your fax to an internal fax.
