Does anyone have a usb stick that works correctly all the time I have had to rebuild a couple of these UC mod or upgraded it. The USB stick been my only glichhhhh!!!! I have seen 8.1 work with a Scan Disk USB I have had no luck with it on a 9.0 A generic USB works for me on a 9.0 but not 8.1 I have had a tech on site I'm helping with a usb ( different types) there's may have worked or would not. If the one would not the module was sent back to me. I would do it in my lab and got it to work with out a problem...... Any recommendation that all I have to tell the customer is get this one with certainty would be great.....

I am so glad that you say this. I had to try I think 7 different USB flash drives until I found one that worked.
I have no UCM's out there any more but one and I will not touch it if I don't have to (meaning if it breaks ;-))
I had to spend so much time on the first one that I refused to install another one as it was more time than I usually need to install 2 full systems and travel time of 2 hours each time was also not in its favour.

Unified Communications Module (UCM)- USB Flash Drive Compatibility
This Technical Tip is to advise customers about USB flash drive compatibility with the IP Office Unified Communications Module (UCM).

A small number of customers have reported issues attempting to use some USB flash drives to upgrade the UCM. When attempting to start the UCM from the USB Flash Drive "Unable to open kickstart file" may be displayed.

Due to the rate of change and the large number and variance of USB flash drive manufacturers, Avaya cannot guarantee that all USB devices will work with the UCM.

The following USB devices have been tested successfully; although, manufacturers can change the components without notice:

Kingston:

DataTraveler G3 4GB

DataTraveler G3 8GB

DataTraveler G3 32GB

DataTraveler G2 8GB

Sandisk:

Ultra Backup 16GB

Lexar:

JD FireFly 4GB

Thanks for the incite

I have had no luck with the Ultra Backup 16GB on a 8.1

kingston dtse9 16G Have you tried it with a USB initiator running a 8.1 or 8.0

I believe got these UC Mod figured out with out to much trouble as long as the customer does not change the IP address. The all hell breaks loose. Its not a bad device when it works KEY WORD...... Of course there is less then 100 users and 1 site1 or stretching it 2 site max.. More then that I tell them nope we need a server.....

hahahahaha

Have not used the Kingston on 8.1 or 8.0, only 9.0 using the unetbootin application. For the two or three 8.1 UC Mods I did in the past, I used a Sandisk Cruzer 32GB with the USB initiator.

I have used a 8gb Verbatim Store 'n' Go on 8.1 as well as 9.0 with no issues.

I use a 4GB USB drive that came with Avaya CS1000 signaling server upgrade kit. I have no idea who the manufacturer is. I've used it for 8.X and 9.0, even though the 9.0 upgrade/reimage instructions state to use a 8GB USB stick.

Just used a ScanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 16GB to upgrade UCM from 8.1 to 9.0 using unetbootin application...the USB stick worked fine
