Hi,

I am running a report on string fields that contain Unicode combining characters. I'm having a problem getting certain characters to render correctly.

For instance, consider the Latin small letter g when combined with a combining macron below (U+0067;U+0331). Using the font DejaVu Sans in Word, the macron is rendered below the tail of the g. Using the same font in CR 2008, the macron is rendered at (thus obscured by) the level of the tail of the g.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Thanks

In XI, when I try using Courier New, at least the line is not overlaying the tail of the 'g'. Maybe you just need to experiment further with different fonts.

Lbass,

Courier New (As I have it) doesn't have a combining low macron. Also, I don't have much flexibility with fonts as I am designing labels that fit into a signage program. DejaVu Sans seems to be the most comprehensive (I have many non-latin characters) font that is similar enough to the font chosen for the signage program.

Thanks,

I used a formula:

"<u>g</u>"

...and went to paragraph->text interpretation->HTML text. Then changed the font to Courier New. I don't really have any other suggestions--had to look up macron to see what it was.

Well, thank you for looking into it. I'm starting to wonder if it might be something to do with Unicode support in my ODBC driver (or lack thereof).
