Can anyone help

I have an access database which I am currently building which appears to increase significantly in size without even entering any data and only reduces back to its original size when I run the compact and repair database
For example, after compacting and repairing the database it is about 3.5 MB. Even if I open it and close it after opening a couple of forms 2 MB is added without adding any data. At one point it grew to 240MB without hardly any data added

Many thanks in anticipation of any help

If you search the access forums, you'll find a few answers to this question.
If you're doing any deletions and then additions, the database increases. If you're changing any queries or creating new ones, the database increases. If you're adding any code ... you get the picture.
If this is a standalone database, you can check the option to compact on close.

Many thanks. I'll have a look and see how I get on. As an initial note I open the DB do not add any code, queries or carry out additions or deletions so am at a loss and guess the best approach is to compact on close
