Hello all,

We have a strange problem:

After about 4,09 GB of data backed up to a 20/40 GB DLT tape the message "Please remove media from drive" pops up and if we click OK, it asks for a scratch or overwritable tape.
I would expect that it finish the entire backup on one tape.
at least it did that until last tuesday. the log then stated:

9,914 Directories
266,058 Files
45,746,198,118 Total Bytes
5 Volumes
8:26:09 Elapsed time

Does anyone have a clue what causes this and how I can solve it, so I can backup to one tape again?

The log shows that you have 45Gb of data on the tape. Are your backup jobs appending to each other instead of overwriting?

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

Indeed it seems that someone put the jobs on append instead of overwrite. I will try tonight and see if this was the problem.
Then I will try to find out who made that change and kick ass !! :-)

TIA
Ger

The problem is indeed solved. I unfortunately cannot find who changed it.

Thanks for the help.
