Here is a check list (not in order of priority) of items to examine when a workstation reboots intermittently...

Hopefully, this may help you with your random restart
( reboot ) issues.

- Power Supply, might not be enough to support equipment
- Power spikes, receiving bad current from electric company
- Motherboard, defects may cause this to happen
- Power Cord, defect in a power cord may cause this
- RAM, non-error correcting RAM may have defects

This was compiled from other user's experiences on Tek-Tips, A+ book, and personal experience.

Any other input is welcome.

Some other points to consider:

Windows 2000 by default does not blue-screen. Instead it immediately reboots, so if you are running Windows 2000, you might want to enable the blue screen and see if it is an OS problem as opposed to a power problem.

Some virii cause a spontanious reboot, so you should make sure you scan for virii. I would reccomend F-Prot and F-Secure over Norton or McAfee as Frisk Software is usually one of the first to release new virus definitions (about 3-4 a day) while Norton only releases updates when they perceive a major security risk (about once a week).

Excellent feedback! Any others?
