Hello,

I'm struggling with a database. Before I even start to explain the problem, I want to say that I know I'm way over my head but my boss is insisting, so although any help would be appreciated, I might not understand it! All I've had is a one-day, intermediate level training course and the rest I've been figuring out as I go along.

I have a query that's looking at 4 other queries. Whenever I open it, I get a box asking for a Parameter Value for "Query1.BusinessUnit". This confuses me, as I don't have a query called Query1 anywhere, and the BusinessUnit field in this query doesn't have any criteria at all, let alone a parameter prompt. If I press cancel I get no data returned, if I leave it blank and press ok the data appears to be fine.

Now, I don't even know if this is something I actually need to fix - it doesn't seem to be causing any problems elsewhere. I'd like to make it stop as I think it probably shouldn't be happening, but maybe my time would be better spent tearing my hair out over some other part of the project! Any help or advice would be lovely.

Thanks,

Tanya

One of your 4 other queries likely references Query1 with a field of BusinessUnit. Either Query1 or the field referenced may not exist. Therfore, Access prompts you for a value.

Thankyou for getting back to me so quickly!

I've had a look at the SQL and can't find any reference to Query1 in any of the other queries, but I suppose it must there somewhere, else I wouldn't be getting the error. I've been working on this all day so I'm going to go home now and look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow.

Thanks again!

Tanya

open up the query properties and see if in the order by there in no Query1.BusinessUnit

pwise, you're a genius! It took me a while to find the query properites, but you were right, it had Query1.BusinessUnit in there. No idea why! Thankyou very much, I can sleep easily tonight ;o)

Good Nite Tanya
I have lost many nites of sleep when i was in your Position
what happend here was that this was saved as query1 with a sort order and afterwards the query was renamed
