unexpected prompt of retrieval arguments 1

A datawindow contains several drop down datawindows that are populated in the open event of the window using a retrieve with an argument. In certain cases two of the drop down datawindows retrieve zero records. When the dw_detail.insertrow(0) is performed the user is once again prompted to enter the retrieval arguments for the two dropdown datawindows without records. How can I prevent the user being prompted again?

maybe you can give the argument a value, like if it's a string try "%", or a NULL

If you are using PowerBuilder 8 or 9, turn off the AutoRetrieve property for the dropdown datawindow fields that might have zero records in their dropdown lists. If you are using PowerBuilder 7 or less, the only way I know of to stop the prompt is to make sure there is at least one row in the dropdown list. If the retrieve returns zero rows then you will have to insert a "blank" row into the dropdown list. (One with null values in whatever column(s) you use for the Data and Display values in the dropdown datawindow field)

Inside the datawindow editor, go to the data tab and create a row. Do not put anything in the row. Save the datawindow.
