Hi,
One of my computers is renaming xls documents to what appears to be a hex code, without an extension.

eg. renamed from FEB04.xls to 87633000 or 766d9910.

It changes as soon as the document is closed. The computer is running windows 98, with office xp, and the server is windows 2k server. Macro security is on high and no macros are running, full McAfee scan on server and clients showed nothing, nor did un-install/re-installing office. I'm very puzzled, and would greatly appreciate any ideas.
Regards,
Alistair.

When you say "it changes as soon as the document is closed", do you mean that the filename reverts back to it's normal Excel name then?

Glenn.

Thanks for your reply Glenn. What I meant is that the filename changes to the strange filename once the file is closed.

Alistair.
