hi everyone i am trying to run some reports that will help me in analyzing my trunk usage and relation to the dialer if we are optimizing our pbx or if something funky is going on. I did a "list performance trunk-group yesterday" and noticed that my "%out blkg" in 1 trunk is 73 and another is 28. This means to me that those are the % that were blocked during that particular hour is that true? if so is this normal because from what i see it raises a huge alarm. What can lower or cause the blockage? is it call classifier or tone clock cards?

i am on an s8700 with g3xv11. I am really concerned about our blockage and non maximization and low efficiency of our trunks. Are there any helpful reports that i can run or stats that i can look that will help me look into these numbers both from the console or through cms v11. This is freaking me out now. Thanks for your help

%out blkg in trunk 1 at 73 means that 73% of the calls offered to the group were out blocked during the measurement period. My next step would be to list measurements tru hourly to see if the %out Blkg was traffic related or an outage of the trunks in the group. If traffic related add trunks to the group if outage related fix broken trunks.

I hope the make sense

hi by "out block" you mean regular blockage is that correct? example pbx says hey i need to place a call out..here go out this trunk...and the trunk cannot continue due to some issue?
ok i doubt its outages..looks like it just overflows...in my route patterns i have several trunk groups that act as overflows...so i guess this is nothing to worry about if that 1 trunk is that high as long as my next trunk that is supposed to handle the overflow is good...am i correct in saying that?

The attahced link will take you to the Avaya Reports manual that defines and explains all of the fields for each of the 'list measurement' reports available from your switch.

On the performance report it justs tells you that you had blockage. On the trunk summary by hour tells you if you had traffic or maintance issues. I don't like the term regular blockage. Yes it is good to have a alternate route out (overflow) but the overflow usually cost more. If your outbound traffic is growing your trunk group size should grow as well. This is just an old phone guy talking.

Hope this helps

I also had blockage and some other things going on. If you want to check for outages to see if you have members of a trunk out do list meas outage trunk (yesterday, today, last hour) this will give you some info there if its blank your fine. Also I have ASA and if you go to system on the menu bar then fault and performance you can set up the trunk analyser. This will look at all the trunks in your PBX and give you an idea if you are at your limit. For instance on my DID trunk group it said add 4 but my LD Tie it said remove 9. So I know I need more DID trunk members and I have more than enough LD of course I'm not going to remove 9 from my LD but at least I know I have more than enough. You can schedule this report to run everyday and then you can export each days results so you can get an idea in a week or so which trunks need attention. You can also look at your routes in ARS to make sure your not overloading a trunk by sending to many calls to it. Try list meas route x yesterday for example to see how many calls went through that particular route.

Hope this helps some

Oops just to clarify, I'm trying to eat and think at the same time! If you list meas outage is blank your fine as far as members out of service goes. I forgot you can also put lighted buttons on your phone that will light when the trunk is completely busy. I have them set up on my phone as busy-ind then the tac number for the trunk.
