I unzipped an activex control twice and have now got two identical folders except the system can't delete one as it can find no record of it - although it displays it in explorer and DOS.
I've tried all the usual - from cmd and rd to creating another file and trying to overwrite but to no avail.
The register has no record.I'm using NTFS if that helps.
Can anyone think of something I've missed please ?

I had a similar problem on a new/inherited Win2000 machine i got for my kids.

But the error I got was saying that the empty folder was in use. I finallly got rid of it by simply moving the folder to a new location where it was then easily deleted.

Probally won't help you but thought I'd throw it out there.

Hi meintsi
Thanks for the thought, each time I try to do anything with the folder, I get a system message saying that it can't find it. Odd or what ?

I had a hacker make undeletable folders once...

Move any info you want to keep out of the parent folder where the undeletable is located, reboot to safe mode, get to command prompt, delete the parent folder. Then make new folder and move the good stuff back in there.

Hi AlexIT
GONE !
It wouldn't do it directly so I moved it's parent folder into a new folder and I could then delete the whols structure.
Many thanks for your help, and everyone else.
