Could someone please give me the command of how to unzip this file please???

lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz

Thanks

I don't see many cpio archives but after you unzip the .gz file, and you end up with a .cpio file, try "cpio -i *.cpio".

Of course this assumes you have a copy of gzip/gunzip on your server. If you don't (not sure if it comes as standard with Linux) there are several freeware sites out there to download from, just do a search on Google or similar. Cheers.

I don't think I have either one of them b/c when I tried to unzip the file, it said that 'this is not a gz file'

where can I download gz or gunzip???

Please advise

thanks

That doesn't mean that you don't have the utilities. gunzip and gzip come standard on most, if not all, Linux distro's. Use the 'which' command to see if they are installed on your system...

which gunzip
which gzip

To see what kind of file "lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz" is, run...

file lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz
