Windows 2000 servers running Active Directory, PDC is DNS

If i try to browse "\\servername\sharename" it will actually connect to that share, however, i try "\\servername\c$" and it gives me an error "The network name cannot be found".

I can browse the computer and its shares through Network Neighborhood, ping the ip and the machine name.

any ideas?

You can browse to shares (since they are essentially published ) though you cannot do the same for adminstrative ones (C$, D$ etc) since they are hidden. You can map to them though

got it, either a windows update/auto-update or someone thinking they are funny removed the c$ share from the servers....should have been the first thing i checked, but what they hay.
