Hi, I know this is an old problem, but it's slightly different in my case as several different PCs have to access the same files at certain points. The problem is that on a couple of these PCs I'm getting the 'unavailable fonts' message and on the other two I'm not. When someone edits the files and replaces fonts then saves, the document looks different and everything has shifted. Plus, the fonts that Frame says are not available are available and active. I've already removed everyone's fonts and re-installed them, so everyone has the same font set up in ATM. Anyone any ideas?

This often happens because PCs have access to fonts from the default printer that may not be installed on the machine itself. So if the some PCs are connected to PostScript printers, they may have PS fonts defined via the printer driver that the other PC (connected, perhaps, to PCL printers) do NOT have access to. Many of these problems dissappear if you enforce a rule to set the default printer to a PS printer and construct your document templates using only those fonts.

If the document is "shifting," the font being changed must be pretty obvious to pick out. Use that information to find out what is missing on some of the machines.

Here's yet another enigma: with Frame 5.5.3, fonts that were installed were giving strange bullets and quotation marks on some machines, but otherwise looked fine. The solution turned out to be finding a Frame 5.5.6 disk. Adobe tried to help, but their corporate memory only extends back one rev., so it was other users who helped us to this solution. Basically, it looked like a font problem, but turned out to be a software problem.
