The PC is a Win98 SE. It was operating normally but has stopped allowing me to view webpages.. I just get the white screen saying there is a problem..etc.. I can access email OK.

I've tried removing the network settings in C.P. and the dialup adapter in Windows setup. I've tried configuring the TCP/IP with the ISPs DNS numbers..
I've set it up to dial into anther ISP and the same thing happens..
I've turned off the Nortons firewall.
Nothing helps..

It doesnt have a detectable virus (latest Vet) and Adaware doesnt find anything untoward in its reports.

Any suggestions, please??

first, can you give us the exact error message on the web browser ?

also just to see if you have any connection, try this:

start menu ---> run ---> cmd (or 'command'for win98)
then type: ping if you have internet connection, you should see
