By searching through the forum, I found my solution on how convert my pdf to dwg format. I brought in my pdf into illustrator, exported the file as dwg/dwf. Now the problem is when I try to open the dwg file in autocad lt 2002, the file is a mess. It opens as a large black object. It is grouped as one item that I can only scale.

Totally not working. Cany anyone help. I am really new and still need to learn.

Yes, I have tried.

The only thing I can do, is grab the corners and size.

Are opening the file as a DXF file or are you opening the file as DWG file? It sounds as though Illustrator may be creating a drawing file with an embedded image in it. Does Illustrator give you the option of creating a DXF file? If so, try exporting it that way so you can create editable geometry. Otherwise you'll have to trace over the image once it's inside AutoCAD.

I saved the file as dxf.

Autocad will not allow me to explode.

What do you mean by trace over the image???

I am really new at Autocad.

It sounds as though Illustrator will not convert your image to vectors, which is what AutoCAD needs to be able to edit the geometry.

If AutoCAD isn't allowing you to explode the image, it is just that, an embedded raster image - exploding won't help.

Now, you're left with tracing over the image manually. By this, I mean using the image as a background, and you'll need to draw lines, arcs, circles etc over the top of the image. It can be time consuming, but its usually not too painful.

Thanks for the help. I will try that and see what happens.

I might be back with more questions.
