Dear friends,
I’m dealing with the following problems, after installing (I unistalled first the 9.x) the 10.x version of Antivirus Corporate Edition in two of my company’s servers.
The first one (running XP), let me call it A, is a primary one. Problem No 1: A cannot update its definitions, although it is configured to do so, from another network server with the 9 version installed. At least, live update works. (Let's skip it for the moment.)
The second one (running XP), B, is a primary one also. Problem No 2: B cannot update its definitions from server A. Problem No 3: B’s clients (running 98 – and consequently 9.x) do not update definitions from parent server B until I tell them to do so (manually – update virus definitions now).
I set up the servers in the same way they were before.
I configured the server to handle 9.x clients. I even tried the root certificate method as described in (Document ID:2005052308392048)
These are problems I cannot overcome.
The truth is out there, I know.
Does anybody know where to find it?
Thank you in advance!

1. Server A cannot update it's definitions from another SAV 9 server.

Correct. SAV 10 server cannot update definitions from "another protected server" when that server is SAV 9.

2. Server B cannot update from server A? I presume that both servers are SAV 10?

So you copied the root certificates, so that both machines can talk to each other? Did you ensure that the clocks on both servers are within defined time discrepancy settings in Symantec System Center?
Can you properly telnet to port 2967 from server B to server A?

3. When you manually force a client to update, it will actually use Liveupdate. It won't use VDTM (Virus Definition Transport Method).

Is your server configured to support legacy clients? (All Tasks, Symantec Antivirus, Server Turning Options... restart Symantec Antivirus service twice after change.)

I hope some of these troubleshoot steps help out a little... hopefully you will get it to work.

Oggywan my friend,

Thank you for your time and for your advice.

I've decided to roll back to the previous version 9.01.

Since 10 is a new one, and some problems are still under investigation, and, Since I have many clients with win98, perhaps it's too early for me.

I've found an article with the title "SA Corporate Edition 10.x fails to update clients and SCC 10.x is slow to respond" (Doc ID 2005092714023548) that fits me perfectly.

I'm a disappointed man. That's why I'm going back to 9.01...

Thanks again.

Good choice. I would wait for a late release of Symantec Antivirus 10 that addresses these problems.
