I am new to exchange. We just migrated over to exchange 2000. Since then, a few of the user's that i am supporting are getting the error

Unable to update public free/busy data. The contents of this public folder are currently unavailable. Either the Microsoft Server computer servicing this public folder is down or the public folder has not been replicated to this site. See your administrator.

From what we see, all of the folders seem to have replicated over fine. Some people get this message and some do not. Can anyone please point me in the direction of troubleshooting this message or providing a posible solution.

Thank you,

Michael

That the public folders have replicated it does not mean that you do not have replication problems. Replication problems may happen intermittently. That may happen if you have any connectivity problems or TCP/IP configuration problems such as DNS configuration. The reason this happens is because a computer may try to connect to another computer and the name resolution times out because it tries to use DNS or any other name resolution that you may have in place such as WINS, lmhost or host file. However, sometimes the server will get the proper name resolution by using broadcast. So I would suggest you first looking at your event logs. You may need to turn on logging inside Exchange 2000 to get better information posted into your logs. You do that by going to Exchange System Manager\Administrative Group\first Administrative Group\Servers and right click on your server name to choose property and the Diagnostic Logging and choose the logging that you need. Be careful doing this because too much logging can slow down the server. So if you change some of the logging, make sure that you turn them off once you are done with the troubleshooting.
