Dear all,

I am using Windows 98 2nd Edition on a Acer laptop.

Whenever I tried to surf secured website, it keeps giving me network error.

For instance, I type in name of any url)
I cannot go in.

Any advice for me to solve this?

Regards,
Kokar

Does this happen with a particular site or any site that is using a secure socket layer?

For all the Secure Socket layer website, this problem happen. We have tried to upgrade to IE 6. but still have the same problem.

In our IE security itself we have already set to default level, no limitation for SSL site.

Any advise ?

Thanks,

KOKAR

Are you using a Proxy? Also, have you got the SSL 3.0 enabled on your advanced settings under control panel/internet options?

Go to Help>About Internet Explorer and verify that cipher strength is 128-bit.

Hi Cirrus9, Reghakr,

I am not using a proxy server. There are no proxy settings..

The SSL 3.0 is being enabled.

The cipher strength shown here is 56 bit. According to my friends, this is quite common for most IEs. Up til now, I still do not know how come it is a t 56bit instead of 128 bits.

Any comments?

Regards,
Kokar

Hi Kokar
Your cipher strength has to be 128-bit in order to access a secure site. IE should have a button in the "about" screen to upgrade your cipher strength (it requires a download). Otherwise you may have to got to Microsoft.com to get the 128-bit strong encryption.
