Can anyone help me?

when I boot my pc up, it issues a message reading :

EMM386 Not Installed, unable to set page frame base address, press any key when ready

I then press a key, and I'm issued with this statement:

EMM386 successfully installed
Expanded memory service unavailable

Total Upl. memory available 58kb
Largest Memory block Avil. 42kb
Upper memory starting address D400H
EM386 active

Press any key to continue:

when I press any key the computer just restarts itself and repeats the process ad infinitum!!!

I hope this makes sense to someone,

thanks for your help

Jez

Two directions I immediatly think of going in when I read this. First, Check your Ram, could be bad chip, loose in slot, wrong type. Next, make a boot disk, write your own autoexec.bat and config.sys, copy all startup files to the disk, boot to a:, re-write your c:'s autoexec and config. pointing to the files on a:. If that dont work check the version of emm386 and verify it is the same as the one in c:\windows\command. Lastly check the bios settings for base address for memory. unsure on what settings should be present not knowing your MB, but the MB may not be handling your banks correctly.
