I have a user that has recently been given a project to email multiple outside addresses. The addresses are stored in an excel spreadsheet where new ones are added daily. On a given day she will need to send one email out to around 5000 recipients.

When we copy the addresses from the spreadsheet and paste into the to field in outlook everything is fine. When we try to send we get the error, "The table requested by this operation contains too many names and cannot be accessed.". This process was working up until a week ago and now no matter what machine it is done on it gives us this error.

Has anyone seen this message? Any help would definitely be appreciated... Thank you all....

okay I'll ask the obvious question first :)

Have you added more named since the last time you did this?

If you only copy half of the names across does the same thing occur then ?

I don't know what the limit is on addesses in the to: field but I would imagine there is one.

Yes address are always added to this list but we have tried sending to anywhere from 100 to 5000. We still get the same error...

Distribution lists are shouting at me. Copy all the names to a distribution list and send the email to the distribution list name. Exchange will CC the message to one person the CC the rest.

Am I off base?

No you are not off base at all. We have tried that and we still get the same error. The DLs are the way to go with this whole process I agree.
