unable to select twain source

Hi, My Canon 670U USB scanner is not working under Windows XP Professional, build 2600.xpclient.010817-1148 that is installed on a my Gateway PIII Desktop PC 730Mhz, 128mb RAM. Before I had Windows 98 and the scanner worked without any problems. Just wondering if anyone can help. The scanner tests without any problem.
