I have ID CS for a PC. I have an eps image on a master page that I think is corrupt. Every time I try to delete it or copy+cut it from the master page, or select it (crtl+shift+click) on another page, ID quits on me. I get the following error:
The instruction at "0x4b284c3f" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program.
Click on CANCEL to debug the program.

Clicking on Cancel only quits ID also. I really need this logo removed from my master page. It has spot colors that I don't want and can't remove them from my swatches. I've tried relinking to a different image, but that doesn't work either -- ID quits.

Any suggestions?

Try copying any other elements you want and put them on on a new master. Then delete the problem master.

I assume you've made sure that the image isn't locked or on a differnet layer, etc.

If you want to substitute a different graphic you can close your INDD doc and remove the problem pic from teh Links folder, or wherever it's stored. Then reopen the INDD doc and you'll get teh missing link warning in the Links window. Choose Relink and select your new graphic.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

I tried deleting the problem master page and it still quits. I also deleted the problem logo entirely from my drive. When asked to re-link the missing image, I tried to change to link to a different image, but ID quit again.

Fortunately the document isn't very long - only 8 pages. I may rebuild it from scratch, just copying over the elements that I need and definitely not the corrupt logo.

Any other suggestions?

Try exporting your corrupt doc as an .inx file and then reopen the .inx file in InDesign.

This might discard the corrupt image.
