I am able to send both internal and external emails. I am also able to receive internal emails. However, I am unable to receive emails from outside our server! Can someone please help me. I'm desperate and am losing emails by the minute!

Susan,

Its usually caused by your firewall or your ISP not being able to get to the Exchange box.

Test the Exchange server by telnetting to it and sending a message manually.

I'm having the same issue. No inbound mail is received. We are not running a firewall at that moment; however, we are behind a NAT router. If I telnet into the ISP's router and send a message I do actually receive the message. If I am sent a message from an external domain it doesn't come through. No Non-Deliverable message is generated. I can't find anything that discusses this on technet or any other support site. Does anyone have any ideas!?! I have tried all that I can think of.

Thanks in advance!

We had the same problem and it turned out that because the c: drive was nearly at capacity the Internet Mail Service had stopped, which was the reason we were unable to recieve outside e-mail. Maybe this is the same situation you are having, check your Internet mail service.

The system is partitioned off and the C: drive seems to have plenty of space. It looks like the Internet Mail Service is still running too. Any other ideas?

Thanks again.

did this ever work, or is this a new server setup? Have you verified that your ISP has the correct NS and MX record entries for your domain?

Sounds like incorrect DNS, I would confirm your MX records. -Danny

We got the server to receive messages. It was a problem with the MX record and DNS on the ISP's side. Now that that is working we receive outside mail to the server but it isn't being forwarded to the users boxes. Any ideas on that would be helpful too!

Thanks again for all the help.
