Background:
This bulletin is to advise users of a functionality change in CS 1000 Release 5.0 regarding On Site Notification and Virtual Office sets.

Analysis:
In CS1000 Release 4.5 and earlier it was permissible to provision an Emergency Services On Site Notification (OSN) key on any Meridian proprietary digital or IP telephone. In CS1000 Release 5.0, this functionality was blocked for any set that was provisioned with Virtual Office Login or User capabilities. If a station is provisioned with either VOLA (Virtual Office Login Allowed) or VOUA (Virtual Office User Allowed) administrators will receive a SCH2227 error when trying to provision an OSN key. Likewise, if the administrator attempts to program either VOLA or VOUA on a station that has an OSN key provisioned, the same error will be generated.

Recommendations:
Due to the possibility of missing OSN alerts on a Virtual Office IP Phone that unknowingly becomes logged out, Nortel
recommends that OSN keys only be provisioned on phones that do not have the Virtual Office functionality enabled.


[!]SPECIAL NOTE FOR USERS UPGRADING TO 5.0[/!]
For those systems on Release 4.5 an lower that have a Virtual Office Phone provisioned with an OSN key, this
configuration will be preserved in the database conversion of the upgrade process. Functionality will remain as it did in Release 4.5 and earlier however, if the administrator removes the OSN key from TN, they will not be able to provision it back as per the new data entry rules. Additionally, if VOLA and VOUA are removed, the administrator will not be able to add this feature back to the TN without removing the OSN key. Attempting this will result in an SCH2227.

Required Actions:
Prior to, or immediately after an upgrade to CS 1000 Release 5.0, it is recommended that any device with both Virtual Office and OSN provisioned have the Virtual Office functionality removed by configuring Virtual Office Login Denied (VOLD) and Virtual Office User Denied (VOUD) in the CLS field. Once changes are made to the system, OSN
functionality should be fully retested to ensure the proper termination and operation of Emergency Service calls.

Where would the Virtual Office be programmed for the dn?

I am not familiar with VO and was unaware the set was provisioned for it.

I would like to take it off of this dn if possible.

 
Actually, looking at the programming, do you have a SINGLE APPEARANCE DN on that phone?

You MUST have one there. You may just be getting the wrong error code here.

Put an SCR DN on the phone that does not live anywhere else, then try it again.

Not sure what the issue is. I built a 2008 here in the lab with the same options (most...at least) and was able to put an OSN key on there.

Only thing I can suggest is build a completely new TN with a single appearance DN key and try that. If that doesn;t work, open a ticket. make sure patches are all up to date though!
