unable to ping my workstation from shell

CM 2.0 on S8700 servers using ASA logged in to emulator then go shell I cannot ping my own ip address.

I can however use the CM ping command and it suceeds.

What is the difference between using the CM ping tool and using the shell ping tool???

In CM, you are using the clan to ping. In shell, you are using the network port on the server. The server customer network port may not be connected or my not have a route to your desktop.

Is there a way to backup translations to an ftp server from within CM?

I've tried to use the 'go shell' 'sudo backup ...' command, and the backup fails.

Well, I figured out what was wrong.

The uplink to our core switch was down.
