I know this is more of a networking issue, but perhaps someone here can help.

I have 3 machines on a network.

Computer A 192.168.11.2
Computer B 192.168.11.3
Computer C 192.168.11.4

All computers have the same gateway (192.168.11.1) and subnet mask (255.255.255.0).
All computers are in the same workgroup.
All computers are running WinXP Pro SP1
None of the computers have any type of Anti-Virus. I know, but I just got this account yesterday and trying to fix the problem with their application.

The problem is this...

Computer A can ping Computer B but not Computer C
Computer B can ping Computer C

I am stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Win XP has a firewall installed as default - Have you disabled this? Control Panel, Security Centre.

are you pinging by name or ip ?

Laters, phat, headshape

I have tried pinging by name and IP. These machines only have SP1 so they do not have the built in firewall that comes with SP2.

have you tried a tracert command to see wher it fails ?

Laters, phat, headshape

Are those addresses given to you via dhcp or are they statically defined? You could try it both ways see if it's anything dhcp related?

I did not do a tracert yet, but I will try that. These machines are set up with static ip addresses. I have even tried changing the ip addresses.

We need more information on the setup. You say they are on the same network. Describe the setup precisely. For example: Computer A and Computer B are connected to a hub, which is connected by a cat 5 cable to a Belkin pre-N router. Computer C is plugged into another port on that same router. Tell us what other equipment is involved.

What is the message you get when you try to ping?

Make sure that the firewalls on XP have been turned off.. that has got me a few times!
