IE
Following message received "Microsoft Access was unable to create the Database window. Please upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Internet Explorer". Have latest version of IE on PC (IE6 SP1). Can run exact same database on another PC and all settings appear to be same on both PCs. Any ideas where to look for problems?

Try installing service packs for Office for your version of Office, and for IE. If this does not work, uninstall Office and reinstall. Be prepared to rebuild the workstation.

Also, are unable to open any database from the one workstation? For example, you may be trying to open a database that has been converted to XP while the desktop is using Access 2000.

Thanks Richard,

Have done the above - office update and IE update but no joy.

Also am able to open some databases on this workstation but no this particular one however when I go and open this problem db on another workstation it opens fine. None of my DB's have been converted from XP. I am using office 2000 professional.

Thought --

Since, as you indicate, everything is the same on all computers, try creating a new database. Then import everything from the old database into the newly created one.

Make sure you make a backup first.

Hope this helps.

Suggests that you do have a version difference or perhaps you are missing a reference, or ActiveX pluggin or similar.

References
Open a database you can open from the problem workstation. Once the database is loaded, ALT-F11 to open the VBA coding window, and then from the menu, "Tools" -> "References". Check these references against the references of the problem database on a workstation that works.

Database version
Open the problematic database on a workstation that works. Then from the menu, "Tools" -> "Database Utilities" -> "Convert Database". Whatever field is greyed out will be the version you are using.

...Also
If your database is from a third party vender who charges by workstation, there may be some code that requires a certain condition to exist. If the condition does not exist, the database is closed.
