Running CE 10 on W2K Server (Dual CPU and Dual NIC). I have two of these servers with full CE10 installs clustered together.

The issue I have is users are trying to view a scheduled instance of a report which is in Excel Data Only format. The filesize of this report is 16MB (on the FRS). Whenever the user tries to view this report they get the following error:

"Internal Error in Web Component Server Connector
An internal error occurred preventing this request from completing successfully. If this error continues, please contact the system administrator."

When I look at the Windows event log this I see two errors:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Crystal_WebConnector
Event Category: (15)
Event ID: 34400
Date: 2/24/2005
Time: 8:38:33 AM
User: N/A
Computer: EXPCRNT2
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 34400 ) in Source ( Crystal_WebConnector ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: assert failure in file (Y:\backend\WebAppServer\wsconnector\src\isapi\workerpool.cpp) at line 94. (false : Request failed with code 2 and error message )..

AND

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Crystal_WebConnector
Event Category: (15)

Event ID: 34400
Date: 2/24/2005
Time: 8:38:33 AM
User: N/A
Computer: EXPCRNT2
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 34400 ) in Source ( Crystal_WebConnector ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Transport connectivity error: Failed to negotiate connection with SOCKS Server number -. Reason: error number WSAENOBUFS.

We are not using SOCKS so I am not sure where this second error is coming from. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be preventing the user from being able to view the report? I am at a complete loss on this one.

Does this happen from all browsers or certain users only? I had similar issues with some users. The problem seemed to be a combination of full cache and missing updates. I updated their browser and emptied the cache and all works fine.

P.S. you may also open the excel file directly on the server instead of through enterprise to make certain the file isn't bugged.

Lisa,

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking along the same lines as you, but I was getting the same error when I tried to view/download the report from my desktop. I went into the FRS and located the files. I then copied them and they opened fine. This behavior seems to only occur with reports scheduled to an Excel format. At first I figured the file sizes were too big for the WCS to handle the request, but I am getting similar behavior - sporadically -for reports with smaller Excel filesizes.
