I've asked this one before but was unable to get any help. System-win98se,AOL.The problem is when I 'save as' a web page the text is saved O.K.,but in the place where the pictures should be is a small red cross.Up until recently I could save graphics by opening a web page in I.E. rather than AOL,but not any more. What's changed? The options box has 'save web page complete' ticked, and out of sheer annoyance I tried the I.E. repair tool. Seems like a settings problem but can't see anything wrong. Any ideas?

When IE saves a web page, it saves the html in one place and everything else inside a folder with the web page name.
If that's what's happening here, just move the html into the folder with the graphics, and open it there. Cheers,

Thanks Jim for that. I tried it and am then unable to open even the html file. Back in the good old days the web pages were always saved as you described, and would open as required, now they're still saved the same way but now no joy opening them. Interestingly, previously saved pages open fine, I just can't save any new ones! Thanks, Andy.

When you find the image that you are wanting to save right click on the image then go down to save graphic type in where you want it saved then ok. That should save the web graphics for you. Hopefully this helps.

Yes that works O.K.,but the problem is that sometimes I want to be able to save a web page complete, for reference, text and graphics in situ.I used to be able to do this but no longer can-just text appears on the saved page.Any thoughts anyone?

You could try using the Iexplorer 5.5 browser which gives you the option of saving a web page complete. You can still use AOL dial up.

This may be of no use to you though if you want to keep using the AOL browser

Thanks for that-but the problem exists in IE as well.

The problem is...what's changed on my system to cause this 'malfunction' and how can I re-set it?

what changed?

ok, what did change in your system? drivers? vid card? new
software?

sometimes software just gets corrupted...usually there is a reinstall option in the i.e. file, you can try that option to reset it

or you can try to uninstall and reinstall it

or, download opera or netscape and try those, if its same with another browser, try reinstalling windows, either over itself, ms says it will work fine...im not so confident but
it has worked for me before, or fdisk format and reinstall

this is a brute force solution. but i bet it works.

X-)

Absolutly nothing! No new installs,no driver updates, nothing! apart from time of course...Actually,because of other 'symptoms' i'm getting, some of which i've picked brains about on this forum, maybe the brute force solution is the way to go.Thanks for your advice.Andy.
