Unable to move folder

I have several(hundreds)of shared network folders and am having a problem with one particular folder. It belonged to a past employee and I need to move it to an archived folder on another network drive but am unable to. The properties show read only but I know that is not the case. When I uncheck the read only box, it goes through the motion of replacing all the files and subfolder attributes yet when I look at the properties again the check mark is back on the read only box. All the other folders are the same and I can do what ever I want with them with no problem. The folder color on this one is light (like a system file)yet it is just another data folder like all the others. The permissions show domain users and the administrator yet when I attempt to move it I get unable to move folder. I took ownership of the folder but that did not help. Any suggestion would be great. Win server 2003 sp2. Thanks.

Will it let you copy the folder? If so, afterwards try to delete it and see what error you get. Also, does Administrators have full rights? Are there any DENY permissions set?

No, cannot copy either. All administrators have full authority of all the folders (starting with the root folder) and there are no deny access on any of them.

The system has the folder locked, if you can restart the server the file resides log on as admin local machine and then move the folder.
