Hi, i'm trying to mount my cdrom drive in redhat in the following way

mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom but it throws a lot of io errors and it says it has busy status, but i can use it fine on winxp y to listen audio cds in linux (without mounting)

i have no idea what it is

when i run dmesg it shows the cd cdriva as ide atapi 52x, wich is correct but then mount fails saying also that it doesn't recognize the filesystem.

any ideas?

You can not mount an audio cd. Just use a cd player.

Audio CD's do not contain an ISO9660 filesystem.

i know that, i said i can listen audio cd without mounting, the problem is with cds with files

Have you tried mounting without the -t iso9660?

mount /dev/cdrom and see what happens.

after it either fails or succeeds, is there any info in a tail /var/log/messages?

i tried without the -t switch it ask for it

if i try /dev/cdrom it says it's not a valid block device
since it's not in /dev

i'll check the file thanks.

could it be some issue with the mother board, i had problems to install it, it was an apic issue i think

hi, i checked /var/log/Messages it says that the irq status is bussy, and something like the drive is not ready for command, when i compiled the kernel i placed set_multimode on because it told something about this error, but it did nothing, also i have tried with different cd drives so it's not the drive

any clues?
