Hi,

I have a Sun Solaris 6 server.It is not allowing me to login thru telnet from another host.
Its giving an error Message "Connection closed by foreign host."
Its allowing ftp from other systems and it is able to telnet to other sustems.

Kindly help.

Regards

Daniel John

Daniel,

are you logging in as root? If so, it may be possible that file /etc/default/login contains the line:

CONSOLE=/dev/console

If so, and you are sure you want to give root access through telnet, just comment out this line with a # at the beginning of the line. HTH.

Is inetd running (ps -ef | grep inetd). If not restart it using /etc/rc2.d/S72inetsvc start and try again. Alternatively, if you're able, it might be an idea to reboot the box. Cheers.

thanks ken ,
We have solved the problem . The problem was with two link files in root .one pointing to /usr/sbin and other too /usr/lib
