Hi,

I have upgraded my Networking client to Novell 4.83 but now I am unable to login to any Microsoft Servers.

I do not have the option to login to Microsoft Servers from this client on my W2K Professional machine.

I cannot access the correct profile because I login as a Local user on the W2K Pro machine whereas before I logged in to the Local machine as a Domain user.

The Novell Location Profile stuff does not seem to work.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Did you uninstall the Client for Microsoft networks when installing the Novell client? (I presume the reason for installing it was accessing Novell servers).

John

No, I still have the Client for Microsoft Loaded but now the only option to change in it is the Windows locator service.

You cannot select any domains

Can you browse through My Network Places to find the servers? Even if you have to enter your MS networking username/password to access them?

John

The client 4.83 is perfectly good for use in a mixed NT/Novell eenvironment, so there is either something wrong with your install/configuration or there is something that you are misunderstanding.

A question:
You say you have upgraded to 4.83 - from what?

In order to use the Novell profile locations, you must ideally (but not necessarily) log in to a Novell server.

It is still possible to logon to an NT domain (as long as your machine is part of that domain). From the main Novell "splash" login screen, there is a tab labelled "Windows" where you can set your NT logon credentials.
(If you don't have this tab, try clicking the "advanced" button. If you still don't have it, you have to change some settings for the Novell client itself).

Try this and get back to forum if you still have problems
