Greetings,

I am connecting remotely to a client using the “Web Interface for MetaFrame Presentation Server” (Citrix). Unfortunately, the client just starting using this and cant resolve my issue. I installed Citrix ver 9 (ica32Pkg.msi) on my laptop and have local admin rights. I can login and see all the published applications in the Citrix environment but when I click on any of the links a pop-up box says ..Preparing to connect, Negotiating capabilities.. and then the pop-up box disappears and nothing happens, the applications never load. I checked the task manager and there is nothing running, so it seems the applications never launch.

I am running winXP. I have checked to the reg key: HKLM\software\microsoft\MSLicensing\Store. There is nothing in this key but default. I was told to delete the key and reconnect, but still nothing is added in this section of the registry. I also made sure that my username has full access to the two keys under HKLM\software\microsoft\MSLicensing. I have tried installing and uninstalling numerous times with no success getting the applications to launch. The one thing I can’t figure out is that after I installed Citrix for the first time, I was able to connect and launch the applications without a problem but after I rebooted the machine, it stopped working. I am unable to use the ICA client, I have to use the web access. Also, my company has a firewall but I am using an open IP, I have also tried this from home via cable modem, so I don’t think it is a network issue on our side.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated
Regards,
Mike

I would delete anything under the HKLM\softwrare\microsoft\MSLicensing key and restart.

Thanks for the reply,
I have already tried that with no luck. In fact I deleted the entire key: HKLM\softwrare\microsoft\MSLicensing, restarted, logged into the Web Citrix and still nothing. I thought I read that XP does not require the ..store.. key? Is that incorrect?

Only if it is Win2K TS yoy are playing with, if it is Win2K3 then a different matter entirely

There may be a bug in the Metaframe install process. At some point, it asks you "OK to reboot?". You must respond NO to this - if you say Yes, the installation is interrupted. Try that.

Also, a general catch-all fix is to clear your Internet Explorer cache (Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files...). That sometimes works also.

find out if your XP box is connecting to a Citrix MF installed on win2k3, if it's win2k3, then check if your CitrixMF installed on win2k3 has terminal services configured correctly or if TS win2k3 is at all present on the network. check the event viewer system log for signs of terminal services expiration. usually 120 days is the grace day period for win2k3 and 90 day for win2k.

Sometimes, you just have to forget your head and grab your balls ...!

Thanks for all the feedback. We fixed it by exporting the "store" reg key from a machine that was working fine and importing into my box. It seems to work now, so hopefully it will continue to work.

Thanks again for everyones time.

Mike

Which means it was either a corrupt registry, or looking to the wrong place to validate TS License.
