unable to kill a process

I am new to AIX so be gentle with me!

I have a backup shell script that appears to have hung and I am unable to kill the process.
I have tried a kill -9 and that is still not working.

Here is the process from the ps -ef output:
root 200850 1 120 25 Aug - 192007:42 tar cvf /dev/rmt0 ./

Any ideas?

AIX version 5.3

kill -KILL (number process)
???

I Have tried the kill -KILL 200850 and that hasn't worked either!

Eject the tape and try to kill the job is it still shows in ps. Otherwise reboot.
